Balance of Power launched an Inclusive Leadership Workshop yesterday at the Saint Barnabas Church in Nerenewman village, Motalava Island.

The workshop, which focuses on the topic of women in the front line, is being funded by Balance of Power for the Women in the Frontline activity of the Diocese of Banks and Torres (DOBT).

“We requested Balance of Power Vanuatu to carry out a workshop for the mothers of Banks and Torres,” Fr. Edwin Maurice, the Vicar General of DOBT, said.

“The workshop was initially intended for the Mothers Union of the Anglican Church, but when the response came out positive, we included other women leaders as well from other denominations, which includes the Assembly of God (AOG), the Seventh Day Adventist, and Pillar of Fire.

“The program will last for three days and focuses on women in the frontline. About 48 women from Motalava, Gaua, Vanualava, Mota, Ureparapara, and Torres Islands will be participating.

“The target is to equip women with leadership skills to break barriers in society and encourage them to raise their voices and not remain silent.”

The workshop is being facilitated by Mr. Wilson Toa, Vanuatu Country Manager of Balance of Power, and supported by Telstar Jimmy, the Program Administrator and Vani Nailumu, the Research and Communications Coordinator.
