Just 10km out of Port Vila is ‘La Maison du Banian’, a two levelled Banyan Tree House complete with an open lounge area and kitchen on the first level, and a double bed with rainforest views on the next.
The bathroom is down a neat dirt path behind the Banyan Tree and offers modern facilities in a rustic setting – imagine a porcelain toilet sealed off by a floral curtain and surrounded with wooden furnishings and décor.
La Maison du Banian is hosted by Odile Guiomar, a French lady who has been living in Vanuatu for over 12 years. Brunch, lunch or dinner is served at the tree house with a maximum of 8 people per booking. Reservations are essential. Odile serves organic, vegetarian meals that are fresh from her garden and determined by what’s in season.
Not only will you be experiencing the ultimate getaway from the hustle and bustle of town life, but your taste buds will also be experiencing a new sensation of seasonal vegetables, flowers, fruits and nuts.
For brunch, Odile served homemade bread, a selection of home made jams including papaya and ginger, mini muffins, cheese and a delightful fruit salad made from guava, banana, papaya, grapefruit, coconut and milk. All served with freshly squeezed juice and wood fired coffee.
Ideal for an alternative outing with friends, but if you truly don’t want to leave, why not stay for a couple of nights and recharge yourself? For more information, call +678 53 57 495 or visit their website.
