Vanuatu beach volleyball duo, Majabelle Lawac and Chantale Willie, had a strong fight against Australia duo Donlan and Moegale in the Australia Beach Volleyball Tour last weekend.

The duo lost out a quaterfinal spot after going down to the Australian pair 2-1. The match went into third set and the host side were too strong to handle. Australia won the first set 26-24, Vanuatu came back strongly in the second set to win 21-13 and Australia fought back in the third set to win 15-8.

Lawac and Willie won two of their three pool matches defeated Hogan and Willie in their opening match 2-0( 21-14 in the first set and 21-16 in the second set).

The duo further defeated Australian Pair of Homes and Mascrenhans in their second pool match winning first set 21-11 and 21-8 in the second set.

They lost in their third pool match to Michaloricova and Richter of Australia in two straight sets.

The Volleyfest was an event over two weeks that included two International FIVB competitions and finished with a Volleyball A in the Australia Beach Volleyball Tour.

It all kicked off with an FIVB Challenge event in which Loti Joe and Chantale Willie played in the Qualifying round and lost and Toko and Lawac were in the Main Draw (lost both their Pool matches 1st to Japan pair and to Canada Pair).

Toko and Lawac competed in the FIVB Elite 16 comp in which they had to play in the Qualifier round. They defeated a Thailand pair to move into Main Draw, playing pair from Slovakia to whom they lost.

Lawac and Willie played in the ABVT comp last Friday in qualification round and defeated Australia pair with a really strong performance.

Three matches on Saturday with a win and a loss in Pool round then loss in 3 sets in Round 12 matches on Saturday night.

The girls arrived home yesterday.
