The First Secretary to Vanuatu’s High Commission in Fiji, Viran Brown, has been appointed as the Acting High Commissioner.

The Director General (DG) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kalfau Kaloris confirmed that Mrs. Brown took up the office on Saturday last weekend.

This comes as former Commissioner, Mr. Nikenike Vurobaravu, was officially elected as the country’s 12th President last weekend. Mr. Kaloris said that the appointment follows the required legal process and the advertisement process will be processed in the coming days.

The DG commented that the process of appointing a new High Commissioner to Fiji will take at least a month.

Mrs. Brown will hold the position as Acting Commissioner until a new High Commissioner is appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is responsible for the appointment of High Commissioners.
