A face-to-face event was held for the launching of the StanapStrong website on Friday, May 13th, preceding Vanuatu Women’s Day on May 15th. The 22 women in attendance represented many of the key stakeholders, including the Department of Women’s Affairs, Gender Protection Cluster, New Zealand High Commission, Australia High Commission, the Vanuatu Women’s Centre, CARE, World Vision, UN Women, IsraAid, and others. All expressed their excitement about the website launching and their support for its future growth.
The event included an overview of the full project, presented by Sista’s Executive Director Yasmine Bjornum and HCDI’s Executive Director Astrid Kersten, along with appreciation to all who supported and participated.
Acting Director Seman Dalesa from the Department of Women’s Affairs presented the launching speech, in which she expressed the Department’s appreciation for the wonderful work carried out in this project and gratitude for the support from Spotlight Initiative. She also noted that this symbolized a new stage in stakeholder collaboration against GBV in Vanuatu.
The website was launched showing the website video, available in English and Bislama.
Following the launching, stakeholders present consulted on future ways to use and further develop the website in their collaborative efforts on the journey to change.
Stakeholders were provided with campaign merchandise, including keychains, stickers, shopping bags and T-shirts, along with sample copies of the Journey to Change booklet.
