Port Vila weightlifting team in New Zealand after the competition

Hard work and dedication paid off for Ajah Pritchard Lolo following her remarkable performance at the 2023 North Island Weightlifting Championships in New Zealand (NZ).

Lolo won a silver medal in the senior women’s 87kg category. She managed to lift 85 kg in the snatch, cleared the bar at 110 kg in the clean and jerk, and collected a total lift of 195kg as confirmed to the Daily Post.

This was the second time she participated in the same competition as an individual lifter but the first time to compete alongside her Port Vila weightlifting team. She was on cloud nine also after achieving her new personal best.

She has acknowledged everyone who supported her on her journey.

Male lifter Jean- Claude Emelee made his first appearance in a weightlifting competition last weekend.

He competed in senior men’s 102kg, he cleared the bar at 76 kg in the snatch and 100kg in the clean and jerk with a total best lift of 176kg.

“Very fun and rewarding experience after months of hard work. Now that I have competition totals in the book, the only place to go on from here is up.

“I can’t thank Port Vila Weightlifting for the opportunity provided to attend this competition and everyone who have been part of this journey so far including my coach lady in Vila, my very supportive family, my PVWC teammates, and my new family at papatoetoe weightlifting,” Emelee said.

Emelee confirmed to the Daily Post that he has also officially registered with NZ Weightlifting.

“If I keep competing and get totals up I can qualify for regional and possibly international like AJ and Thomas who are both elite level now,” he added.
