Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Simeon Seule, is facing several charges.

According to the Court listing, a Pre-Trial Conference involving the minister is listed before Justice Olivier Saksak in the Supreme Court Chambers this morning.

Police say the case relates to an incident which happened during the National Games in Luganville, Santo in December 2016.

According to police, the minister reportedly asked for money from a female staff who was employed at the Youth and Sports’ Corporate Services Unit at the time.

His request was reportedly rejected.

Police say the minister then allegedly assaulted and threatened the female staff.

She was pregnant at the time of the alleged assault.

Police mentioned that one of the charges laid against the minister is intentional assault.
