The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has launched new Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Finance policies to enhance efficiency, transparency, and digital transformation across Vanuatu’s education sector.

The launching event brought together key stakeholders, education professionals, and development partners.

The MoET said these policies represent a significant milestone in its commitment to modernising education governance, ensuring effective resource management, and leveraging technology for improved learning outcomes.

The ICT Policy contributes to this commitment by outlining a comprehensive framework for integrating digital tools and e-learning into schools, improving access to quality education across all provinces. The Finance Policy reaffirms MoET’s commitment by establishing clear financial management guidelines to promote accountability, efficiency, and sustainable funding for education programs.

MoET’s Director General, Bergmans Iati, highlighted the importance of these policies, stating, “adopting the ICT and Finance policies is a transformative step towards a more innovative and accountable education system. We are dedicated to equipping our schools with digital resources and ensuring financial management practices align with the Ministry, Vanuatu and international standards”.

The ministry acknowledged the collaborative efforts of education stakeholders, the Government of Australia and technical experts whose inputs has been instrumental in shaping a strategic vision that aligns with Vanuatu’s National Sustainable Development Plan and the Vanuatu Education and Training Sector Strategy.

MoET assured that it is committed to realising Vanuatu’s National Sustainable Development Plan (2016-2030) in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in collaboration with communities, schools and development partners.

“This commitment guarantees equal access to quality education through well-managed schools, reflecting MoET’s dedication to empowering educators and strengthening Vanuatu’s education,” the ministry added.
