Port Vila International School (PVIS) is opening its doors today to local high school students from all over Efate for its Senior Secondary Scholarship Open Day.

The local high school students are vying for two hotly contested Senior Secondary scholarships, valued at over 700,000VT annually that include all tuition fees and resources to study Senior Secondary at PVIS.

“We are very excited to find two exceptional students who are academically gifted, active in their communities, and have the potential to be future Vanuatu leaders to award the two Senior Secondary Scholarships to,” said PVIS Principal, Steve Moore.

The two scholarships are for a two-year period for year 11 and year 12 studies and are possible through the very generous support of the ANZ Bank and Open Access College.

“Port Vila International School is extremely grateful to the ANZ Bank and Open Access College for generously sponsoring the PVIS Senior Secondary Scholarships and supporting senior secondary education,” said Mr. Moore.

Today the year 11 students from Lycee Catholique de Montmartre, Malapoa College, and Ulei Junior Secondary School in North Efate will meet with the School’s teachers and students, tour senior secondary facilities at the school’s campus in Tassiriki, as well as undergo academic assessments to measure their proficiency in literacy and numeracy.

A second group of year 11 students will visit PVIS on Monday, 30 November to also be in the running for the Senior Secondary Scholarships.

PVIS expects to announce the 2018 Senior Secondary Scholarship awards in the next two weeks.

“Next year Port Vila International School will start teaching the SACE Certificate, an internationally recognised Senior Secondary qualification accepted by overseas universities – a first for Vanuatu and the Pacific.”

“The SACE Certificate is a fast track to oversees tertiary study and PVIS is very excited to be offering it here in Vanuartu.
