To end this year’s Sista Gat Style we celebrate the gorgeous Ms Regina Ova!

Regina comes from the island of Espiritu Santo from the beautiful village of Port Olry. She is an intelligent woman who has a wicked sense of humor and is tremendously kind, which makes her beautiful from the inside and out – and is exactly why we have chosen to celebrate her to close off 2022! She is Sista’s Financial and Administration Officer and the team appreciates and acknowledges the effort and time she has put into her work this year.

Regina lives by the quote “It’s all about determination” – in order to earn something we must have the strength and determination to work hard for it.

Name

My name is Regina Ova

Age

I am 26 years old

Where are you from?

I come from the island of Santo, Port Olry

Tell us about your family?

I am the second last born in our family. I have 7 brothers and 1 sister who are all currently residing in Santo. Unfortunately, both my parents have passed away – my mother passed away in 2014 and my father in 2016. I am very grateful for my family’s support, especially after my parents passed away. My siblings gave me so much support, more than I could ever imagine. When I was in school, I would never run short of money. Even though my older siblings had their own families to support and provide for, they were always there to financially support me as well. I am also grateful to my parents for always encouraging us to look out for each other because even after their passing, my siblings have been the greatest support system. I would also like to thank my uncle and his beautiful wife for their continuous support and provision in my life.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

During my spare time I like to hangout with my cousins and my friends.

What do you study? Do you work?

I completed my degree in Accounting and Management in 2020 at the University of New Caledonia. After graduating, I came back and got a job at Chantillys on the Bay as an Accountant/Finance officer. I worked with them until February 2022 and then I left to join the team at Sista as the Finance and Admin officer.

What do you aspire to do in the future?

I would like to expand my consulting services to more resorts and hotels around Port Vila and eventually Santo, and do it full time.

What is a quote you live by?

“It’s all about determination” – unknown. In order to earn something we must have the strength and determination to work hard for it.

How would you describe your style?

My style is very simple. I’m not really a make-up person and not fussy about fashion.

Who influences your style?

I grew up with a lot of brothers so I didn’t really get exposed to any feminine styles. My brother’s would never want to see me doing something too ‘girly’ so I grew up with the confidence of not relying on fashion or make-up to feel beautiful. I am comfortable and confident with the way I am and how I look.

What beauty products do you use?

The beauty products I like to use are coconut oil and Black Charcoal Soap. It does wonders for the skin!

Any fashion tips?

I highly recommend Mesika’s Beauty if you are looking to treat yourself to a mani-pedi at an affordable price, and I would also recommend TJ Beauty Salon.

What are three words you would use to describe yourself?

Funny, kind, and humble.

What does being a woman mean to you?

Being a woman means being strong enough to stand up for herself and fight for what she believes in, and that is what being a woman means to me.  I am honored to be born in an era where women and girls are able to access education and are able to make a living from doing whatever they are most passionate about. I want to thank the activists who have been fighting for women’s rights over the years until now. I also acknowledge single mothers. I really admire their strength and commitment to giving support to their children, it shows us that we can make it without a significant other/partner in our life.  I am also glad to be a part of the team at Sista. Seeing the work that we do for women in Vanuatu has inspired me on so many levels and so I am grateful to be working in a space where I can contribute to support the women of Vanuatu as well.
