A big thank you to FRIDA Fund by supporting Sista in empowering women and young girls and strengthening our organizational infrastructure.
Through FRIDA Fund, we have been able to organize a collective care activity through a women’s circle, printed the Strong Mama Booklet to provide information on healthy eating habits to single mothers. We’ve also brought in a finance consultant to help us improve our financial systems and supported administrative expenses, ensuring everything runs smoothly. We believe in the importance of movement building and supporting other women-led organisations and so through FRIDA, we contributed to the Port Vila Women’s City Council’s clean-up campaign.
A big part of our work this year at Sista has been focused on team well-being and capacity building. We celebrated special moments, like our Project Coordinator’s baby shower and our end-of-financial-year lunch, which strengthened team relationships and overall morale.

We’ve also made sure our team is continually growing through professional development, providing catering for the Accounting Cycle training and covering travel for Sista’s Executive Director who attended a training in Fiji, the Asia Pacific Regional Civil Society Organisation Forum in Thailand and the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York.

We were also able to cover Jane Spitz – a Canadian Volunteer that supported the team at the end of 2023 – who produced a wonderful video highlighting the work that Sista does for the women and girls in Vanuatu. We purchased phones for our Logistics and Admin team to stay connected, and we got new uniforms and a tablecloth for our projects to have a more presented and professional look at future events.
These efforts have all been made possible thanks to the FRIDA Fund! Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to accomplish so much. Their belief and understanding of ow we work, has truly made a difference for the team.
