Women Cricketers in action

Vanuatu Women’s Island Cricket will have its Francophonie Day semi-final games at Korman today.

The semi-final match between Imaki and Erakor was postponed to today due to the unfavourable weather condition last week.

The winner of today’s semi-final will face Ifira tomorrow for the grand-final and also the Women’s Island Cricket 11th Anniversary.

Tournament Coordinator and Social Impact Manager, Mary Estelle-Mahuk said: “Despite the impacts of the cyclones, Women’s Island Cricket showcases how resilient we are as an association and nation despite the devastation caused.

“All the teams are prepared for the semi-final and final and it will be a huge celebration on Friday where the women will be our 11 years of operation, we have come a long way and all women are looking forward to the matches.”

The program is really impacting mamas, specifically their health and the way mothers contribute back to their communities using skills they have developed through the programs.

They show how resilient and important their life is to live for their children, husband, families and their communities.
