Para badminton athlete, Jacklynda Moliudu, has delivered a strong performance at the Para Badminton World Championships 2026 underway in Bahrain.

Competing for the first time, Moliudu faced a top-ranked athlete from India Rachana Shaileshkumar Patel in her opening match earlier this week.

The Vanuatu and Pacific representative claimed victory in the first game with a convincing 21–16 scoreline. The second game saw the Indian athlete respond strongly, winning 21–10 to level the match.

The deciding game was closely contested, with Moliudu narrowly defeated 21–18 after an intense exchange of rallies.

Reflecting on the match, Moliudu said she remained encouraged by her performance despite the close loss.

“She won it with 21 points and my point was 18, but I really enjoyed the game and I know I need to improve for my upcoming matches,” she said.

Following the match, officials from the Badminton World Federation (BWF) invited Moliudu for a post-match interview, acknowledging her strong performance against a top-ranked opponent—an impressive result for Vanuatu on its inaugural appearance at the championships.

Moliudu also expressed gratitude to supporters back home.

“Thank God for my good result, and I want to thank everyone for your prayers,” she said.

Moliudu is scheduled to play her next match later today against a top-ranked competitor from Egypt. The match will further test her progress as she continues to represent Vanuatu with pride on the international stage.
