Vanuatu’s Tafea FC will face defending champions Auckland United today in the semi-finals of the OFC Women’s Champions League at the National Stadium in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

Tafea booked their place in the last four after defeating Fiji’s Ba FC over the weekend and now face their toughest challenge yet against the two-time OFC Women’s Champions League winners from New Zealand.

The two sides are no strangers to each other, having met in previous editions of the competition, including two semi-final encounters.

Their most recent meeting came in the 2024 semi-finals, where Auckland United edged Tafea 2-1 after extra time in a closely contested match.

Tafea FC head coach Robert Calvo acknowledged the challenge ahead but said his players are focused and ready for the occasion.

“We know it won’t be an easy match against the defending champions, but the team has prepared well and we will give our best,” Calvo said.

The Vanuatu champions are hoping this year’s campaign will mark a turning point as they aim to reach their first OFC Women’s Champions League final.

In the other semi-final, Papua New Guinea’s Hekari Women’s FC will take on Cook Islands champions Puaikura FC, also at the National Stadium in Honiara.
