On Friday 3rd March, the Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA) and Vanuatu Family Health Association (VHFA) signed a partnership agreement for VHFA to be involved in VCA’s Women‘s Island Cricket Program activities planned for 2017.

The Women’s Island Cricket Program started in 2012 to provide health awareness, diet education and exercise opportunities to a group of 20-40 middle aged women (20-50 years old) based in a single community. The idea is to use Island Cricket as the development tool to base the program around and incorporate educational and awareness components into the sessions by partnering with NGO’s and health organizations.

“It is VCA’s mission to promote women’s health through sport and this partnership enables the VFHA to deliver awareness to these mamas on reproductive health,” said Amelia Lawac, VCA’s Women’s Cricket Supervisor.

“The VFHA is pleased to have a partnership with Vanuatu Cricket and as it is VHFA’s mission to improving our communities’ health,” said VHFA Director, Danstan Tate.

Vanuatu Cricket is supported by the Australian Government through the regional Sports Partnership Program.
