The Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) confirmed that the Women’s Champions League (CL) will commence on October 14 2021, at the Luganville soccer stadium.

All teams will be travelling to Luganville this week. Port Vila Football Association (PVFA) representative and champion, Galaxy FC will head to Luganville this week to participate in this first ever women champions league.

With eight teams participating for the championship title, it will be a challenging week as all teams battle out for the first ever women’s champions league title.

According to VFF’s competition department, group competition will kick off on October 14 and end on the 25 October 2021. The grand final will take place on the October 26 followed by the prize award ceremony.

VFF’s competition manager, Bong Shem said that VFF’s Province of Origin competition will also take place during the women champions league.

“VFF schedules its competitions within the FIFA window period. All VFF MAs should respect that. Within this period all MAs must put on hold, all its competitions,” he said.

“The Province of Origin is a pathway to the Vanuatu national team.

“With COVID19 affecting all international competitions scheduled by FIFA, VFF is creating such competitions to prepare its national players towards upcoming international and regional competitions.

Last week, PVFA donated VT200,000 to Galaxy FC toward the VFF CL campaign. PVFA encouraged the girls to play with pride when representing PVFA. It further wished the team all the best in their games.

All VFF MA will participate in this competition. The event is a major boost for the development of women in football in Vanuatu.
