Efate became the second Efate community to join the Vanuatu Volleyball Federation Volley4Change program.

The Ekipe women participated in the Kalnawi Kalworai Cup in March at Epau Village and expressed great interested to join the V4C program.

The program started last Wednesday with V4C coach Manua Maki conducting some volleyball activities to assess the ladies skill level.

“I am so proud of what I am doing with the Mama’s.

I have always tried to help young and older woman particularly in a culture that often doesn’t allow them to develop self-confidence or the ability to speak up for themselves, the volley4change program will provide them with the opportunity to improve their health and self-confidence. This program aims to help women and people of Vanuatu to make positive lifestyle changes through playing volleyball.

That is why we really want to involve women in sports to keep them fit and healthy physically and mentally. We are not just playing volleyball but we also conduct the health checks and nutrition, also speaking about mental health in partnership with Nightingale Medical Services.

Mental health is an integral part of overall physical health and we believe if we can speak about it openly than others can too”, said coach Manua. READ MORE
