Volley4Change (V4C) Administrators and Coaches in both Port Vila and Santo for 6 days were fully engaged in training activities centred on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of the V4C program.

The workshops were conducted by Associate Professor and registered psychologist, Dr Stephanie Hanrahan from the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences at the University of Queensland.

During the workshops V4C staff prepared for interviewing both V4C program participants and non-participants to help determine attitudes towards physical activity and nutrition 1 year after conducting the V4C program in their communities. Staff were given ample time to practice skills that would help both participants and non-participants to share their experiences so that V4C can continue to make improvements on the program for future participants, their families, communities and ultimately their nation.

In addition to the M&E workshops, Dr Hanrahan also provided valuable training in areas such as coaching session plans, team building, and creative warm up activities as well as team harmony, goal setting & leadership. Primrose Malon, a coach for the V4C program in Port Vila, expressed an appreciation for these workshops as they gave her and her colleagues many practical tips for improving their coaching sessions.

V4C Program Manager for Santo, Sarai Stephens, who attended the Port Vila workshops before accompanying Dr Hanrahan to Santo, observed a marked improvement in the way V4C coaches conducted their V4C training sessions the very next day in the Eratap Community and anticipates a similar result for her Santo V4C Coaches when they start the V4C program later this week in Luganville.
