The Vanuatu Teachers Union
(VTU) Women Network have all the reasons to smile and celebrate the achievements of two of their members for overcoming barriers by occupying two top positions within the South Pacific Region Trade Union Councils .

Mrs. Loreen Baniuri, the National Treasurer of VTU, and at the same time the Chair lady of the Vanuatu Council of Trade Unions (VCTU), currently holds the position of the Chair lady of the South Pacific Organisation of Trade Unions (SPOCTU).

Her colleague, Mrs. Nesalinda Mweta, Secretary of VTU Women Network was successfully elected last August as the Coordinator of Women’s Network at the Council of Pacific Education (COPE).

An emotional and proud President of the Women’s Network, Mrs. Eslyn Jenery conveyed congratulatory remarks on behalf of VTU to the duo at a small function held recently.

In her remark, Mrs. Jenery acknowledged the roles played by women members of the network she is leading. She extended her words of appreciation to the male counterparts at VTU for supporting the women in advocating for the rights of women and teachers. READ MORE
