From 9–15 February 2025, Sista joined partners of the We Rise Coalition in Fiji for the annual planning and strategizing retreat. Hosted at Hideaway Resort, the gathering brought together We Rise Coalition (WRC) partners from across the Pacific to reflect on Phase 3 of the Coalition’s work and prepare for Phase 4.
As an active member of the WRC, Sista contributed to discussions on strengthening partnership principles, improving collaboration, and aligning strategies for regional feminist movement building. Alongside WRC partners — including Fiji Women’s Rights Movement, Voice for Change, femLINK Pacific, Brown Girl Woke, the International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA) — Sista shared lessons from national advocacy work and helped shape collective priorities moving forward.
The retreat created a valuable space for coalition members to reflect on the achievements and challenges of Phase 3 while setting a bold vision for Phase 4. Together, members strengthened their Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework to better capture impact and accountability, and began planning for major upcoming advocacy opportunities such as Women Deliver 2026 and CSW69 to ensure Pacific feminist voices remain visible on the global stage. Partners also reaffirmed their commitment to the DIEM strategy (Diversity, Inclusivity, Equity, and Movement building), with a focus on localising and embedding it across all coalition members. The retreat was also an opportunity for the WRC partners to officially meet the new WRC Communications Officer, Sabrina Tabi! Sabrina played a key role throughout the retreat, capturing content for the Coalition’s social media presence. Towards the end of the retreat, it was made clear that communications and storytelling is a key priority, with collective commitments to enhance We Rise’s visibility through shared messaging, and the expansion of advocacy platforms.

The WRC 2025 retreat reaffirmed the strength of feminist solidarity across the Pacific. Despite challenges, the Coalition remains united in advancing gender justice, amplifying Pacific women’s voices, and ensuring accountability within and beyond the movement.
TANKIU TUMAS to our We Rise Coalition partners for their continuous commitment to strengthen Pacific feminist movement building.
