Vanuatu Women’s Beach Volleyball team is looking forward to their major tournaments taking place soon in Melbourne, Australia.

President of Vanuatu Volleyball Federation (VVF),Debbie Masauvakalo, says two teams will be participating kn the FIVB World tour events.

According to Masauvakalo, two girls are already in Australia and two other girls will be traveling with the Head Coach, Steve Anderson, next week to Melbourne.

Masauvakalo said this is the first time where Australia is hosting this major international events and hope that next year Vanuatu can host some international events to get more kids playing.

“We have Korman we can use it to run some of our international events, so that is one of our major goals next year and beyond is to have international events every year and not to just travel around the world but actually to get people come into the country to bring sports tourism into the country and kids can watch both girls and boys play, and they have the inspirations to be like them,” he says.

He says this will boost sports tourism with the recent success events shown  Cricket and soccer in the MSG Cup it’s a really good thing for Vanuatu to continue to do well  for the younger generations and for the community to get excited and to go and watch this big high-class tournament.

Four female players representing Vanuatu in this tournament is Sherysyn Toko, Majabelle Lawac, Chantale Willie and Loti Joe.

“We haven’t received any support from government for this tournament yet, but maybe in the future we will get some support,” he added.
