A 17-year-old girl has died after an alleged alcohol-related incident in East Santo.

Consultant Surgeon of the Northern Provincial Hospital (NPH), Dr Basil Leodoro, confirmed that the girl died from serious injuries sustained during the incident.

The recent incident happened during the week of Independence celebration. The victim was admitted to NPH but died 12 hours later.

This was the third young person on Santo to have died from drunk driving incidents in a short time, according to Dr Leodoro.

Earlier last month, a young girl and boy lost their lives in an alleged drunk driving crash when traveling from Hog Harbour to Port Olry in East Santo.

They died on the scene as a result of the injuries they sustained.

The Police have been warning drivers about the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol but it seems such warnings are not adhered to.
