Ready for Work Programme trainees

 

The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development (MoYSD) continues its Ready For Work Programme for young people in need of employment.

74 trainees are part of the eight weeks program. They have completed their five weeks theory and are now into their three weeks of internship programmes.

One of the trainees is attached with Vanuatu Rugby Union (VRFU).

VRFU Secretary Darval Simon said: “ We are happy to have this trainee attach with us and she is studying rugby, have created her rugby passport online portal.”

The aim of the programme is to set clear pathway for youth into job markets.

Youth Challenge Career Development Coordinator, Larisa Csiba said: “ We want these youths to build confidence, their interpersonal skills so they can be prepared for work environment.

“The first five weeks of training we conducted job skills, life skills and basic computer training.

“We have also conducted Tourism training to bridge the gap left by those who have gone for seasonal workers scheme, now 70 youths have gone to the resorts for their internship programme and these resorts have indicated that they will be hiring some of them.”
