To celebrate our Independence month, we shine light on the fabulous Melissa Bule!
Hailing from the island of Pentecost, Melissa is a passionate project manager at NAOIA consultancy in Port Vila, where she specializes in communications, marketing, and event coordination.
Melissa is a firm believer in putting God first in everything she does. She aspires to be an influential youth leader, inspiring young boys and girls to empower each other and shape a brighter future for their community. This comes as no surprise as Melissa is a Young Women’s Leadership Program Alumni who volunteers her time in her various roles as a Bible Class teacher, Tanuah Boys Band board member, Vanuatu National Youth Council member, Pacific Women Lead youth representative and Vice Chair of the Pacific Youth Council.
For Melissa, being Ni-Vanuatu means embracing a rich cultural heritage, celebrating diversity, and preserving traditions that have shaped her identity. She sees it as a source of pride and a commitment to contribute positively to society. We are proud to celebrate Melissa for Vanuatu’s 44th Independence anniversary month!

Name:
Melissa Bule
Age:
27 years old.
Where are you from?
I’m from the island of Pentecost.
Many people assume I’m from the Solomon Islands because they say I have strong features typical of someone from there. However, I often explain that it’s because I’m a mix of both the northern and southern parts of my own country.

Tell us about your family.
I’m the oldest of three siblings, often playing the role of the second mum in our tight-knit family. My brother and sister complete our close unit. We hail from islands of Pentecost, Ambae and Futuna.
Our grandparents are respected leaders in our community and church, passing down important values. Although our immediate family is small, we have a large extended family network. We love spending free time at the beach, sharing stories and enjoying each other’s company. We always find ways to have fun together!
I’m also grateful for my partner’s family, who come from SHEFA and TAFEA regions. We’ve grown close over the years, cherishing every moment we spend together.
This part of my family is a family who loves to find any excuse to get together to eat, have family devotions what not, you name it!
I feel incredibly fortunate to have such a strong support system.

What do you like to do in your spare time? Any hobbies?
I love learning new things, whether through reading or watching videos to satisfy my curiosity. Lately, though, I’ve been using any free time to relax and recharge as life has been so busy lately.
What do you study? Do you work?
I always dreamed of becoming an engineer, but my journey took a different turn. Now, I’m passionate about managing small projects in marketing, communications, and event coordination—areas that truly excite me.
I work at NAOIA, a consultancy in Port Vila, where we specialize in crafting unique adventures. Our services focus on communications, marketing, and events.
Although I don’t have a formal degree, my experience has been my greatest teacher, I’m planning to pursue further studies to enhance my skills and qualifications.
What do you aspire to do in the future?
I aspire to be an influential youth leader, inspiring change in our society and serving as a role model for young boys and girls. I believe that when we empower each other, we can shape a better tomorrow for our community.
What is a quote that you live by?
Put God first in everything you do.

How would you describe your style? Why do you like fashion?
I’m not sure if I have a specific style, but I love wearing comfy clothes. You’ll usually find me in a basic jeans and tee combo or a casual summer dress and Island dresses.
Who influences your style?
Most of the time, I check out what’s trending or what others are wearing and like to try it out myself. But ultimately, if it’s comfortable, it’s perfect for me!

What beauty products do you use (including perfume)?
I don’t wear a lot of beauty products, however for perfume I love Gorgio Armani – Si it’s always my go to wear!
Any fashion tips?
Just be yourself as long as your comfy!

What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Adventurous, Caring, Fun
What is one thing you wish you could tell your younger self?
Don’t conform to others’ expectations; stay true to yourself and do what’s best for you!

What does being a Ni-Vanuatu mean to you?
Being Ni-Vanuatu means embracing a rich cultural heritage that values community, respect for nature, and strong family ties. It’s about celebrating diversity while preserving traditions that have shaped our identity. For me, it’s a source of pride and a commitment to contribute positively to our society.
