The Vanuatu Basketball Federation (VBF) has announced a new program designed to empower young girls through the sport of basketball while raising awareness on important issues such as gender equality, health, and safety.

The program will include two clinics and a tournament, with events scheduled for 2pm to 4pm tomorrow at Epauto, a second clinic on the next Sunday, and a culminating tournament on Saturday, 11th October.

This initiative is part of a FIBA-recognized effort that goes beyond teaching basketball fundamentals and mini-games.

It incorporates advocacy activities focused on promoting gender equality and health education, aiming to inspire and support young girls both on and off the court.

In related news, the VBF is gearing up to send both men’s and women’s teams to compete in the upcoming Melanesian Cup in the Solomon Islands.

This marks a significant return for Vanuatu to the tournament after a lengthy hiatus.

To support the teams’ participation, the Federation is organizing a fundraising event at Rossi Restaurant in Port Vila.

Friends, families, and supporters are invited to purchase tickets for the event, which promises to be a fun-filled occasion to rally behind Team Vanuatu and show community support ahead of their important trip early next month.

The Federation expresses its excitement and gratitude for the community’s continued enthusiasm and hopes the girls’ program and fundraising event will help strengthen basketball’s presence and impact throughout the country.

The VBF continues to develop and promote basketball in Vanuatu.
