Vanuatu’s leading athlete and Zumba Instructor, Anolyn Lulu, will be leading a Zumba crew from Vanuatu to Fiji for the first Pacific Zumba Masterclass scheduled from November 9 to 11.

The team consist of 17 participants aged between 30 and 70 years. They are expected to leave tomorrow (Thursday).

“This marks our inaugural journey as a Zumba crew to Fiji, and the opportunity to interact with others is truly remarkable, highlighting the progress we have made,” said Lulu.

“Despite lacking of sponsor, we have successfully raised our own funds through various fundraising efforts, and the support from our fellow members has been instrumental in making this possible.

“Zumba is an activity that transcends age limitations. As long as one is physically able to move and enjoy themselves, Zumba is accessible to all.

“Our group includes a member who is 70 years old, accompanied by her daughter, exemplifying the existing nature of our participation. It serves as an excellent means to strengthen family bonds and friendship through our shared passion for Zumba.”

Lulu emphasized the importance of continuing her involvement in sports, having dedicated a significant amount of time to it and having established a Zumba class in Vanuatu. She expressed her commitment to pursuing her passion for sports

“When I reach an age where I can no longer participate in sports, I intend to train other athletes and serve as a coach, guiding young individuals to achieve their goals in athletics,” she said.

“As an athlete, sports are a part-time endeavour that provide financial support during my participation. However, of one possesses a genuine passion for their pursuits, they will not only excel but also learn to share their knowledge with others. This is precisely what I plan to do in my life after my athletic career.”
