Sista’s Executive Director was in Bangkok from the 4th – 6th of February 2024, attending the Asia Pacific Regional Civil Society Organisation (CSO) Forum on the Priority Theme of the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW)!

She also had the pleasure of attending ESCAP Regional Consultation at the UN Conference Centre on the 7th – 8th of February.

The priority theme this year is, ‘accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective’

The forum brought together youth, grass roots organisations, feminists, and activists, across the Asia-Pacific region to collectively examine and identify actionable regional priorities and put forth recommendations for the CSW68 session and the agreed conclusions on the priority theme.

The Objectives of the forum included:

  • To build the capacity of CSOs on CSW processes and priority thematic issues;
  • To collectively strategise regional and global advocacies within the CSW68 priority theme, followed by the local and national level commitments made in the agreed conclusions of CSW68;
  • To strengthen cross-movement solidarity between the diverse constituencies represented,  including youth-focused/led movements, women movements, advocates for sexual and reproductive rights, LBTIQ+ rights,  indigenous rights movements, migrant and labour rights movements, sex workers – recognizing the interconnected nature of our shared struggle.

The resulting recommendations from this two-day forum will be shared throughout the CSW68 session.

We are honoured that our siSTAR attended and represent Vanuatu’s Civil Society in this transformative space and we look forward to the impact that will be made later this year in March at #CSW68!
