Balance of Power (BOP) and the Vanuatu Daily Post have partnered over the past six months to interview, photograph and compile the third edition of a book promoting women in country called ‘Nation Builders’.

The launch of Nation Builders III will begin at 9:30am at Tana Russet Plaza where 26 Vanuatu women on boards will be showcased.

Balance of Power have made two similar books in the past and the third edition has the same intent as the previous ones, which is to raise awareness on strong women and celebrate their success.

“This initiative raises awareness of women’s leadership in Vanuatu and encourages broader recognition of their contributions in development and decision-making spaces. By publicly celebrating women leaders, the activity strengthens public perceptions of their legitimacy and inspires future generations of women to pursue leadership roles,” the BOP Media Alert read.

Daily Post Newsroom Coordinator Mavuku Tokona mentioned that BOP reached out to Daily Post after reading the ‘Women of the Week’ profiles during the lead up to International Women’s Day.

“We came with this weekly column to celebrate all women and mothers in Vanuatu, from the cleaners to shop keepers to those in the corporate world, it also opened a lot of eyes to how hard these women work and the amazing stories they have,” the Newsroom Coordinator said.

“The first profile we published was about a cleaner next door (Tana Russet Plaza). She has children in high school and one in university, and their education is financed through the work she does. Stories like hers caught the attention of Balance of Power. We are happy they reached out, and I am proud of my reporters who took on this project alongside their normal tasks.”
