The Women In News and Sport (WINS), Mobile Storytelling workshop for sports women in Vanuatu, started at Grand Hotel yesterday.
The workshop ends today with a total of 14 women participants from each sports federations attending the course.
WINS is an initiated training and mentoring programme that provides female journalists in the Pacific and Asia with the tools to carve out a career in the male dominated world of sports media.
The programme is run by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s International Development Unit and funded by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
One of the participants, NetGo Country coordinator, Virginia Taravaki, believes the workshop was informative and very encouraging.
“This is a good opportunity for us to learn how to tell our story through photographs and video.
“This is what we always wanted to learn and we are so blessed to be learning this thanks to WINS.
“ The sessions are very informative,” Taravaki said.
The workshop teaches participants on how to use their mobile phones to take pictures and proper videos to market their sports.
