Hailing from the second largest island in Vanuatu, Malekula, Grace Sese is a businesswoman who owns Majech Construction with her husband. Coming from a family of five, this inspiring mother of four is expecting her fifth child very soon and values having a healthy and happy family.

Grace is a participant of the Phoenix Women in Business program led by the Vanuatu Business Resilience Council. This project is supported by funds from the Women Peace and Humanitarian Fund and technical support from UN Women. Over the past year, Grace has been provided support through the Phoenix Program that includes a mix of life coaching sessions, mentoring, business skills coaching and leadership skills development.

Where are you from?

Tell us about your family?

My father is from Malekula island and my mother is from Paama island. I have four sisters and a brother from my father’s side and from my mother’s side I have a big brother and an elder sister.

When it comes to my little family; my husband is from the island of Ambae and we have been married for five years. Together we have four beautiful children, three boys, a girl and another one on the way!

 

What do you like to do in your spare time?  Any hobbies?

I like singing, reading articles and books and I go on Facebook for some entertainment and to connect with friends. I also love to practice self-care and I love to go shopping, but most of all I like to have alone time.

What do you study? Do you work?

I did not manage to complete my education but I used to work for a few companies before getting into accounts. Now I am self-employed working alongside my husband. We have our own Construction company called MAJECH construction. I am looking after the financial and administration area of the business.

 

What do you aspire to do in the future?

I would like to expand our MAJECH Construction in the future to be able to provide jobs to the unemployed people in Port Vila and also in my community. It is important to me that everyone is able to make a living for themselves.

How would you describe your style? Why do you like fashion?

Colourful and pretty, I also like to match colours with my outfits.

 

Who influences your style?

My friends and family.

 

What beauty products do you use?

I use ‘Mama Joy’ oil on my hair and skin, ‘Eco Gel’ for my hair and when it comes to make-up; simple eyeliner and dark lipstick.

Just dress however you feel best!

 

What are three words you would use to describe yourself?

Loving, Faithful and Passionate.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment is having a happy and healthy family and a life to live my dreams.

 

What is something you love about yourself?

I love that despite the fact that I live quite a busy life, I still find time for myself and practice self-care. I also love that I take pride in everything that I do.
