NINE fashion designers showcased their unique and stylish designs during the Fiji Fashion Week trendsetters show at the Vodafone Arena in Suva last week.
Fiji Fashion Week managing director Ellen Whippy-Knight said these were emerging designers showcasing off-the-rack ready-to-wear style of clothing.
“The kind of people that come to these shows are people who are interested in the industry, people who are interested in fashion design and others who are interested in seeing what designers are coming out with,” she said.
“The other thing is that there are people who typically go and order from designers so we should have a lot of buyers in the house, including international buyers.
“The internet plays a major role in these shows so some buyers go online to see the designs and order from overseas and if there is something really exceptional then they will fly all the way over here to meet them.” House of Cannon, Seewaa, Rima, Myra Fiji, Mes Fidji, 8Mountains, Rachel Fairfax Designs, Aarti Dee and Shannen Azuredee took to the runway with colourful, versatile and wearable pieces.
The outfits ranged from Pacific, African and Indian fusion to contemporary ready-to-wear pieces. SOURCE: FIJI TIMES
