The Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched its new Corporate Plan, setting out the strategic direction for strengthening the national health system and improving access to quality services across Vanuatu over the next five years.

The plan outline’s the ministry’s priorities, goals, and strategic actions for 2026-2030. It provides a clear roadmap to guide service delivery, governance, workforce development, and system strengthening across all provinces.

Key focus areas of the plan also include enhancing governance, planning, and accountability; supporting workforce and infrastructure development; and strengthening public health, surveillance, and emergency preparedness.

Speaking during the launch of the plan, Minister of Health John Still Tari Qetu said the new Corporate Plan reflects a strong and shared commitment to building a healthier and more resilient Vanuatu.

“This plan is not just a document it is a promise to the people of Vanuatu. It comes from extensive consultation, technical work, and collective thinking across the Ministry and with our partners,” he said.

The minister acknowledged the contributions of health staff at national and provincial levels, technical teams, and development partners who supported the development of the plan.

“I thank all ministry staff and provincial health teams who worked hard to develop this plan. I also acknowledge our partners for their continued support and technical advice. Special appreciation goes to the Director General and the Policy and Planning Unit for coordinating the work behind this launch and ensuring that our shared vision reaches all people,” he said.

The launch brought together health workers, senior management, directors, partners, and stakeholders to mark what leaders described as a major milestone for the health sector.

The Corporate Plan aligns with national development priorities and reinforces the role of health as a foundation for social stability, community wellbeing, and national development.

Minister Qetu called for unity and partnership across all levels of the health system to achieve the Corporate Plan goals.
