Southern Districts Women’s team delivered a statement performance on Friday night, securing a commanding 168-run victory over Nightcliff in Division 1 of Darwin’s Quality People Women’s Grade competition.

The match was headlined by exceptional performances from Vanuatu’s Rachel Andrew and Vicky Mansale, according to the Vanuatu Cricket Association (VCA) in a statement.

  • “Opening the innings, Rachel Andrew was unstoppable, finishing unbeaten on 106off just 64 balls, completing the rare feat of a batter “carrying their bat” in a T20 match. Her powerful display featured 19 fours and three sixes, anchoring Southern Districts to an imposing total of 244/2 in their 20 overs.

“Vicky Mansale’s impact was felt with both ball and in the field. The off-spinner from Mele delivered a superb spell, taking four wickets for just 10 runs in her four overs. She also took a catch to complete a memorable all-round performance.

“Chasing an improbable target of 245, Nightcliff’s batting lineup crumbled, bowled out for just 76 in 15.1 overs. Mansale’s four-wicket haul was well-supported by a disciplined bowling effort from the rest of the Southern Districts attack,” said VCA.

Southern Districts will look to continue their winning form this Friday when they take on PINT Cricket Club, who are yet to secure a win after three matches.

The match is scheduled to start at 4:30pm Vanuatu time.
