Tidy-Haus-Team-complete-First-Aid-Training-Workshop

Three staff members of the Tidy Haus Cleaning Services have received Certificate II in First Aid after completing a full day intensive training workshop.

Owner of Tidy Haus, Irene Abbock, shared her pride in seeing her employees along with herself undergo this essential training.

Abbock, who has run Tidy Haus Cleaning Services for almost seven months now, also operates a mobile babysitting service. She emphasized the importance of her staff receiving First Aid certification, particularly given the limited availability of certified First Aid trainers in Vanuatu.

The training was conducted by Jane Laycock, a highly experienced nurse practitioner and founder of Nightingale Medical Services, with over 50 years of first aid expertise.

The workshop, which was made accessible in both English and Bislama, covered essential First Aid topics, including CPR, body fracture, and emergency response for various conditions such as asthma, allergies, heart attacks, and drowning incidents. Participants practiced responding to emergencies for adults, children, and infants, equipping them with the skills to handle critical situations until professional medical help arrives.

Abbock explained her three main reasons for enrolling her staff in the training.

Firstly, with staff deployed to babysitting assignments, knowing First Aid is crucial in the event of an emergency involving a child. Secondly, with the physical demands of cleaning, workplace accidents can occur; being trained in First Aid ensures her team knows how to respond and most importantly how to use First Aid tools. Lastly, Abbock hopes her team can bring these skills back to their homes and communities to help in emergencies.

The eight-hour workshop included hands on activities with participants from other business sectors.
