TANNAFOROSCARS

Will the Australian Movie ‘Tanna’ win the Oscars Award? That is the question on everybody’s lips.

The countdown is on and the advice from the General Manager of the Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO), Adela Issachar Aru, is for members of the public and those in the tourism industry with time on their hands, to go to the Convention Centre at 12pm today, February 27, to find out by viewing the ceremony live in Hollywood on Australian Channels 9 and 10 from 12.30 to 4 this afternoon.

The VTO General Manager says the Government is excited about creating a public viewing of the movie so that members of the general public, business houses, and the tourism industry can view the ‘Tanna’ movie.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Joe Natuman will be doing a short formal ceremony to welcome everyone and also emphasize the importance of this movie to Vanuatu’s tourism industry as well as the pride and culture of the people of Vanuatu.

For the first time this movie in Tannese is telling the story of two love birds on the island of Tanna on the face of the most accessible live volcano in the world on Mount Yasur. “And for this the Government wishes to invite any members of the general public, to come and participate in this public viewing and countdown.

“Let’s all cross our fingers and pray and hope that the movie will win the best foreign language movie for 2017 Oscar Awards,” the VTO General Manager says.

“We are already excited that they’ve already stolen the First Prize for the African American Foreign Language Film Award. That is probably an indication that they will win the Oscars Award.”

The question is what happens if they win.

“We believe that the country will celebrate in our own social media world.

“If the ‘Tanna’ movie wins, we ask that you go and do your personal blogging page, face book page, Instagram, tweeter and say ‘Discover what matters Vanuatu’, come to Vanuatu, come and visit Tanna Island. We’re the world’s happiest place,” she adds. READ MORE
