The Vanuatu women U16 team are gearing up for an exciting participation at the OFC U16/U17 World Cup qualifiers which will be hosted in Tahiti in December.
The team has been preparing since June this year and are looking forward to a positive outcome.
The women U16 coach Sakama Francois said;” The team has been preparing for five months now and next week we will have a 10 days camp.
” The players were selected from inter-schools and we also asked the respective PE teachers in schools to recommend names so now the girls are preparing well,” Francois said.
Francois said the girls are looking forward to meet competition giants teams like Fiji.
” We are we will beat Fiji,” he excitedly said.
Coach Francois awaits the availability of four players two from LFA and two from TFA.
The girls are also playing the U16 boys side as part of their warm up match, in July the U16 girls beat a touring Avalon College from Australia 4-1.
In few of their recent friendly matches the side took on Erakor FC Senior women’s team and lost their first match 5-1 and progressed in their second match where they only had a one point difference 2-1.
” The girls are ready for the competition and are looking forward to an exciting outing,” he added.
