The Vanuatu Women’s Centre (VWC), in collaboration with Port Vila Town Council of Chiefs (PVTCC) have organised their first ever combined workshop on domestic violence.
VWC Coordinator, Tatavola Matas, said the purpose of this workshop is to be able to work together with the PVTCC to address domestic violence issues, an ongoing issue in communities.
“Involving the PVTCC is just as important because they have been confronted with numerous issues with the same problem, domestic violence,” she said. “This workshop, where most attendees are from the PVTCC and a few chief representatives, has been a request from the Council to help them understand the issue and the different laws regarding domestic violence, primarily the Family Protection Act.”
