Alumni Outreach Coordinator Esther Sibona of Public Affairs, US Embassy, Port Moresby, says nominations for the 2017 U.S. Secretary of State’s International Woman of Courage Award are now open.
She says, “We encourage people in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu to nominate exceptional women for this award”.
The award honors women who are making history in their countries and communities, through their work to better their societies, fight discrimination or strife, resolve conflicts, as well as those who have taken risks to run for office or break down barriers in order to promote positive change.
She calls on the media and members of the public who know someone in Vanuatu who should be nominated for the award, to fill in the form and send it to her at the earliest convenience as the closing date is November 23, 2016 at 4.30pm, PNG time.
