Maina Ansen, a female officer of the Vanuatu Correctional Services Department has snatched the Baton of Honor Award for her well-displayed performance during a three-months training in the Solomon Islands.
She was among three other correctional officers who have just returned from the Solomons after three months of completing certificate 3 in the Correctional services discipline.
The certificate 3 is an accredited course and is recognized by the Solomon Islands National University and in the region.
According to Director of Correctional Services Johnny Marango, the award is the highest award and is granted to a single student from each course who displays a high level of competence, professionalism and academic performance throughout their training and who is able to demonstrate strong leadership, integrity and strength of character.
Department of Correctional Services has a role to keep the public safe from dangerous offenders and such training is needed for upskilling of officers in order that a high level of security is provided. READ MORE
