The Supreme Court has ordered that the Council of Ministers’ decision regarding the restructuring of the Ministry of Justice and Community Services into a Ministry of Fisheries, Ocean and Maritime Affairs is stayed pending final determination of the claim for judicial review in the proceeding.

The Court listed the matter for conference at 8.30am on February 26, 2021 to hear further the issues raised.

The Applicant in the Judicial Review is Dorosday Kenneth Watson, Director General of the Ministry of Justice and Community Services.

Respondent in the case is the Republic of Vanuatu.

Legal counsel representing the Applicant is Mr Mark Hurley and Solicitor General, Mr Frederick Gilu, represents the Republic of Vanuatu.
