Port Vila International School (PVIS) is encouraging prospective local senior secondary students to register now to attend the School’s first Senior Secondary Scholarship Day on Friday 27 October to be considered for two full-tuition Senior Secondary PVIS scholarship Awards.

The international school is offering the two Senior Secondary scholarships, valued at over 700,000VT annually, over a two-year period through the very generous support of ANZ Bank and Open Access College.

Current high-performing Ni-Vanuatu Year 11 students from local high schools are invited to the PVIS Senior Secondary Scholarship Day to meet the School’s teachers and students, tour facilities, and undergo academic assessments to measure their proficiency in literacy and numeracy.

The two best performing local students will be awarded scholarships for all their tuition and education costs for Year 11 and 12, including lap tops, text books, uniforms, and stationery.

Students will graduate Year 12 with the Australian SACE Certificate, an internationally recognised and regarded Senior Secondary qualification accepted by overseas universities.

The SACE Certificate is being offered for the for the first time in Vanuatu and the Pacific region at the Port Vila International School with education partners SACE International and South Australian based Open Access College.

Located in the Korman area, the Port Vila International School is starting Senior Secondary education in 2018 with its first intake of Year 11 students, followed by Year 12 in 2019.

This new scholarship program is a key part of the School’s commitment to contributing to providing education opportunities in Vanuatu.

“Studying Senior Secondary at PVIS is a fast track to overseas tertiary study and creates pathways overseas for future tertiary academic tertiary scholarships and university acceptance without needing additional, and often costly, bridging courses.

The ANZ Senior Secondary PVIS Scholarship will be awarded to a student who wants to study economics and have a future career in business.

The Open Access College Senior Secondary PVIS Scholarship will be awarded to the student who shows determination, wants to succeed, and demonstrates a passion for contributing back to the community.

The students will be tested in reading, numeracy, an extended writing task, an oral language assessment, and an interview with the selection panel. All assessment will be in English.

To be eligible for consideration for a PVIS Senior Secondary Scholarship candidates must have the endorsement of their current school Principal and a Community/Church leader.
