Police investigation into the incident which saw a young woman leaping off a service bus in fear for her life, is still underway.

Police made the confirmation as they dismissed rumours on social media which claimed the victim had died, following the extent of the injuries she sustained from the incident.

The victim who is an employee of Au Bon Marche (ABM) jumped out of the speeding bus at ABM Manples Federation after the driver refused to stop.

The Police Traffic Unit visited the victim at the Hospital and confirmed she is currently under intensive care and is receiving treatments to her injuries.

Police are urging members of public, women and girls in particular to memorise the number plate of any service bus before getting into the bus, especially at night.

Women and girls are also encouraged to take note of the color of the bus.

The Vanuatu Police Force is appealing to drivers of public transports to act professionally when providing service to the public.
