Para badminton player, Jacklynda Moliudu, has been selected to represent Vanuatu at the BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2026, scheduled to take place from February 8–15 in Manama, Bahrain.

The 29-year-old athlete, who is still relatively new to the sport, has quickly emerged as one of Vanuatu’s promising para athletes.

Her international breakthrough came in October when she travelled to Australia for the first time to compete under the newly formed badminton federation.

Competing in Melbourne, Moliudu took part in Oceania and international competitions and returned home with three medals—the first ever medals for Vanuatu in badminton and para badminton history.

Her strong performances have now earned her a place on the world stage, where she will compete against some of the world’s top para badminton athletes.

While acknowledging the level of competition she will face, Moliudu said she believes in herself and remains hopeful of achieving positive results.

She expressed her gratitude to Badminton Oceania for covering the costs of her previous tournaments as well as her upcoming world championship campaign, thanking the organization for its continued support and trust in her potential.

Moliudu, who also serves as the Vanuatu Paralympic Committee (VPC) National Coordinator, said she hopes her journey will inspire greater opportunities for people with disabilities who have talent but limited access to international exposure.

“If able-bodied people can do it, so can we,” she said, stressing the importance of focusing on ability rather than disability.

VPC Secretary and Team Manager, Seleana Enrel, praised Moliudu’s rapid rise in the sport, saying her performances have clearly demonstrated that she belongs at the world championship level.

“Even though Jacklynda is new to para badminton, her performance has proven that she is capable of making it to the world championships. I believe in her abilities,” Enrel said. “She will always be a life changer to other para athletes.”

Enrel also describe Moliudu’s selection as deeply emotional and inspiring, calling the journey “a dream come true and a powerful example of what can be achieved through sport.

Moliudu, who is a mother of one, will depart for New Zealand in January for a one-week training camp before travelling on to Bahrain for the championships.

She also acknowledged Titan FX as a major sponsor, thanking the company for its support through the provision of uniforms and training gear.
