JENNIFER Kalpokas Doan is the first female and independent Ni-Vanuatu to be on the Bank South Pacific Vanuatu Ltd board. This was announced last week by BSP chairman Sir Kostas Constantinou. Kolpokas Doan is from Lelepa Island, North Efate, Vanuatu. She is a qualified and experienced policy adviser, who holds a bachelor of arts in political science and international relations and masters in public administration.
She worked as a public servant, and then as a senior programme manager at the Australian high commission in Vanuatu for over 11 years before taking on the role of deputy team leader for the balance of power programme in Port Vila, Vanuatu. The Reserve Bank of Vanuatu has consented to the appointment of Kalpokas Doan.
Sir Kostas welcomed the appointment noting that this continued the bank’s philosophy of promoting inclusive female participation in its senior management as well as director’s roles. Sir Kostas said he was confident that Kalpokas Doan would contribute positively to the board’s performance. He said the group board had the opportunity to meet with Kalpokas Doan when she was in PNG to attend the group board meeting in Madang as an observer and the bank also sponsored her participation in the company directors’ course in Port Moresby facilitated by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Kalpokas Doan said she was honoured to take on the role and be part of the board.
