
PC: Oxfam In Vanuatu
An event will be held at Saralana Park in Port Vila today (Wednesday) to commemorate the 39th National Women’s Day.
The Vanuatu National Council of Women (VNCW) has been hosting the event every year since 1980 to celebrate the achievements of women and raise awareness on the social and political issues affecting women.
‘Promotem kalja mo kalja blong sasteinem laivilihud blong everi family’ is the theme of this year’s event.
The theme is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end all forms of hunger and malnutrition by 2030, making sure all people – especially children and the more vulnerable – have access to sufficient and nutritious food all year round.
Members of the public are encourage to attend today’s celebration.
A variety of activities including a Flea Market will be held at Saralana to mark the event.
The programme starts at 8am and ends at 6pm.
