SHaRM Foundation, a locally registered charity is honoured to host in conjunction with Reefers Restaurant & Bar — “Danielle Matthews’ ” first professional performance in Vanuatu.
Matthews, whose family are also local ni-Vanuatu from Devils’ Point, Efate will sing for members of her family as well as dinner guests at a Charity Evening to be held on Thursday, 21st of September 2017 at the Reefers Restaurant & Bar.
She is a very polished and accomplished performer, a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts and the inaugural winner of the prestigious Rob Guest Endowment Award.
In 2013, Matthews recorded her debut album “Dream Song” with Move Records and more recently “La Belle Epoque”, for the in-game soundtrack to one of the world’s most popular video game series, Assassins Creed Unity.
She will be joined during the evening by local keyboard specialist, David Andrews, a talented musician and songwriter in his own right. It has the makings of a fantastic evening with two high caliber entertainers.
This Charity Evening will assist in SHaRM Foundation’s upcoming projects for 2017-2018.
Since Cyclone PAM, initially four ladies from Devils Point Road commenced SHaRM Pikinini Ecole Foundation (“SHaRM Foundation”) – Steph Neilson, Helen Collier-Kogtevs, Robin Culph, Stu and Deb Friend, Rod Neilson and Ed Kogtevs, all have varied skills and backgrounds making it a formidable team.
They have implemented and completed some 17 projects assisting the pikinini of Vanuatu in education development and infrastructure rebuilding of damaged classrooms since Cyclone PAM.
Over the past two and a half years, this team have assisted school rebuilding either alone or with their partner group of Cyrille Mainguy, BlueScope, Port Vila Hardware, Ratua Foundation, Vila Distribution-Hardware and others at schools around Efate including Manua Centre Primary (5 classrooms and an admin building); Suango Mele Primary (5 classrooms); MeleMaat; Vila North (2 classrooms); AimYee Kindergarten and Mangaliliu Roau Primary (one classroom and an admin office) plus other educational based projects.
In November 2017 – this group will commence a project at Takara Primary School in North Efate undertaking a reroofing and a new classroom, admin office in conjunction with Rotary Pacific.
The next project on Maewo Island is the construction of a kindergarten, followed by the rebuilding of a kindergarten in Mangaliliu.
All these schools being still under canvas or with deteriorating buildings damaged in Pam or subsequent cyclones.
