Use of marijuana leads to loss of respect 

Respectful behavior is being lost in many places, following violent actions that many people are involved in, such as the use of marijuana.

In TORBA Province, the police continue to go into communities and find out that the use of marijuana is increasing, leading to a loss of respect in the community.

Last week, the police at Sola arrested three suspects for cultivating and selling marijuana in Warsaga village. They removed some of the marijuana plants.

Investigation into the case is ongoing.

Man hits partner, pours hot water on her

A man hit his partner on the head and poured hot water on her on Vanua Lava on July 28, 2025.

The police arrested the suspect last Friday, and he is now waiting for his court hearing in Santo.

Meanwhile, police at Gaua and Sola in TORBA Province have recorded 64 cases that they have dealt with.

These cases involved intentional assault, domestic violence, unlawful assembly, criminal trespass, damage to property, and idle and disorderly conduct.

Twenty suspects put in Cell #6 in just one week 

The police in Port Vila have placed twenty-two suspects in cell #6 in just one week, from October 6 to 12 this year.

Fourteen of them were arrested and detained for possession of illegal drugs (marijuana), four suspects for domestic violence, two suspects for intentional assault, and two others for threats to kill and theft.

All cases are under investigation.

FPU records 14 cases from September 13

The Family Protection Unit (FPU) in Port Vila have recorded 14 cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, and property damage between September to October 13, 2025.
