Vanuatu’s President, Nikenike Vurobaravu, will honour national medal winners from the recent Palau 2025 Pacific Mini Games during Independence Day celebrations.

Among those to be decorated are gold medalists Toko and Iawac, who made history by defeating Australia in the grand final to secure a gold medal for Vanuatu.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the State House, Moses Jenery, the President believes national recognition should be extended to all citizens who achieve excellence, whether in sports, arts, music, or academia.

“The medals are meant to enhance the spirit of patriotism and nationalism in the citizens,” President Vurobaravu stated.

The awarding of national medals to outstanding citizens has become a hallmark of the Independence Day program, recognising those who uplift the nation’s image through dedication and excellence.
