The President for the Port Vila Land Transport Association (PVLTA), Donald Massing, says the Association is working very hard to introduce guidelines and impose stricter measures for all drivers to follow when providing transport service to the residents of Port Vila.

The Association is waiting on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to regulate and endorsed the regulations before it becomes active.

Failure to abide by the rules will see drivers having their public vehicle permit and driving permits suspended.

“This is one of the long time issues and at the moment we are working with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to regulate and endorse some of the disciplinary regulations for the transport industry.”

Mr. Massing stated this after one of the bus drivers was reported to have verbally harassed an expatriate woman married to a ni-Vanuatu on Monday who was a passenger in the bus.
