Newly appointed Vanuatu women’s football coach Yalou Robert is calling on more senior women’s teams to join the Vanuatu Football Federation Women’s League that will kick off on October 26.

The women’s football league is making its return after lapse of two years and one of the main objective is to create a player base for the Vanuatu Football women side.

Robert confirmed so far only six teams have confirmed their participation for the League that will culminate in December. The teams include two senior teams from Mele, Malapoa College, LAB, Westam and Erakor.

“ We wanted to revive the women’s league, after two years we are having the competition again.

“ The main aim of having this league was to identify players for the Vanuatu women football team. This is a good start for us.

“ It is very important to bring back the league,” Robert said.

“ After the league in December we will scout some players and keep them in the system.”

Robert is also calling on all the 20 women and men that were part of the recent coaching course to participate in the league.

“ This is where they can implement everything they learn from coaching course and involved themselves in the league.”
